HISTORY
North Kitsap Schools Foundation received nonprofit 501(c)3 status in 2002, awarded its first classroom grants in 2004, and has been enriching instruction and engaging students ever since! NKSF brings the community together, allowing individuals, families, local businesses and service clubs to combine resources, supporting outstanding education for local students. Led by an all- volunteer board of directors, NKSF is operating in its 20th year.
Thanks to our partners and community, throughout our history NKSF has awarded over $600,000 for teacher - and district - driven programs that inspire students, spark innovation and provide learning opportunities that go beyond the basics. Recent grants have funded projects like motion sensors for the Physics Lab, novels for a Manga Club, field trips to the state capitol, and flexible seating options to improve attention and concentration. From books to technical equipment, science lab supplies to professional development, NKSF funds materials and programs that North Kitsap students need, but that the school district can’t afford. The North Kitsap Schools Foundation’s (NKSF) purpose is to support the academic success of all North Kitsap School District students with educational resources not funded by the state education budget. We operate separately from the school district with private contributions, but our goals are aligned with district priorities. The foundation’s annual grants enrich instruction in all academic subjects and programs, and strive to overcome barriers to learning so education is inclusive and innovative for all students. The North Kitsap Schools Foundation is proud to combine financial resources from the community, including those of individuals, school employees, local businesses, tribes and service clubs, to fund exciting and innovative learning opportunities for district students to achieve their academic and personal goals.
