NORTH KITSAP
SCHOOLS FOUNDATION

HISTORY
Led by an all-volunteer board of directors, the North Kitsap Schools Foundation (NKSF) received nonprofit 501(c)3 status in 2003, awarded its first classroom grants in 2004, and has been enriching instruction and engaging students ever since!
NKSF brings the community together, allowing individuals, families, local businesses, service clubs, and tribal organizations to combine resources in support of education for local students.
Thanks to our partners, NKSF has awarded over $750,000 for teacher and district driven programs that inspire students, spark innovation and provide learning opportunities that go beyond the basics. Grant awards have funded projects such as…
-
Motion sensors for physics studies;
-
Library books and supplies;
-
Field trips to the state capitol, Seattle Symphony, and student camps focused on the environment and foreign language immersion;
-
Flexible seating options to improve attention and concentration;
-
Robotics kits for budding engineers;
-
And support for educators seeking continuing professional development.
NKSF supports the academic success of all North Kitsap School District (NKSD) students with educational resources not funded by the federal or state education budgets. We operate separately from the school district through private contributions but align with district priorities to enrich instruction in all academic subjects and programs, and strive to overcome barriers to learning so education is inclusive and innovative for all students.
