Randall Wood Receives a New Ukulele Rack

The music room at Suquamish Elementary received a newcomer to help wrangle their collection of ukuleles. A beautiful new instrument storage unit.

In the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, Randall Wood contacted NKSF and explained that the collection of ukuleles in the music room needed better storage in order to keep them safe and in great condition for many years to come.
The grant request supported the purchase of a new instrument rack with padded slots and an inspirational design for safely organizing the music room’s ukuleles. Beyond protecting the instruments from damage, and keeping the classroom neat and organized, the students have also learned to take care of the instruments by seeing them properly stored and have attained a sense of ownership and responsibility as they select their instruments for class.

“One student story that stands out is how excited the children are to peruse and choose their own ukuleles from the new rack. They love having the freedom to pick their instrument, and this process has fostered a sense of responsibility and respect among them.”
Mahalo kiddos! We love that you’re learning music and respect for your instruments at the same time! Grab a ukulele and strike up a kanikapila, and thank you Mr. Wood for your thoughtful request to preserve the instruments and the beautiful plaque.
