Our second grant cycle for the 2024-2025 NKSD school year saw some regular necessities requested by teachers such as sensory items, flexible seating, and additional scientific calculators for students to have access to standardized equipment for both science and mathematics students.
This year’s winter grant cycle brought us right up next to our budget limit, and unfortunately we expect next year is likely to be even tighter. Still, some very important needs were met, such as:
Behavioral Safety & Threat Assessment Training for the district, additional professional education software for our teachers to learn the latest in evidence-based reading strategies, and some special needs tools for the district’s speech and language pathologists.
Helping keep NKSD educators at the top of their game wasn’t all. We opened up some very fun and interesting learning opportunities for the kiddos, too:
Physical education in our schools received some funding for 9-square Castle Squares, an electronic dance mat, and parachutes and timers for some very fun indoor PE activities during poorer weather.
Some excellent field trips were approved for Woodland Park Zoo with an interesting overlap in biology and psychology studies, and a fantastic French Immersion Camp in Bellingham for NKHS French students.
We were also very excited to support the NKHS drama club’s production of Mean Girls!
In all, NKSF agreed to fund our educators with another $32,121 dollars this winter cycle, bringing our total grant funding for the 2024-2025 school year to an amazing $98,222!
