Kingston Middle School’s Library Collection Receives New Keva Planks
Avast Ye! The planks be too wee fer even thar wee feet, but perfect fer thar brains.

Early in the 2023-2024 school year, Lynn Atherton at Kingston Middle School, reached out to NKSF to see about upgrading the school library’s collection of Keva planks.
“The simple planks allow students to create an endless array of structures and designs so long as they follow the laws of physics.”
The old collection of Keva planks have been a popular item in the school’s library over the years, and expanding the collection from three to eight boxes (at roughly 200 planks per box) has opened doors for greater creativity and exploration.
“New plank sets come with design cards and "marble run balls" that provide more opportunities for the weekly lunchtime building challenges … Students were able to create more detailed, intricate, and/or taller/larger constructions… “
A supply of quality Keva planks, made from maple instead of pine to provide lasting durability and better balance, has had some additional noticeable results in the builds kids are coming up with.
“Because we now have enough planks to go around, students can work on a build over several days to increase size and complexity ... As more planks became available, was the added benefit that more students form building teams and work collaboratively on their creations.”
Blimey! They be buildin' things o'er thar at Kingston Middle School!
