Vinland's kiddos love cracking open boxes of history
Thank you for funding the Burke museum, I loved it! I liked the sand pit with toy dinosaurs. I also liked the femure that was almost taller than one of my classmates Ruby... Sincerely, Laine a fourth grader who enjoyed the museum
The Burke Museum and its roving Burkemobile delivering Burkeboxes to schools provides exceptional value to Vinland’s kiddos.
For the last couple of years, NKSF has funded visits from the Burke Museum’s Burkemobile. The Burkeboxes, packed full of natural history studies, make their way around the school’s 4th and 5th grade classes giving the kids an opportunity to experience history first-hand. Without a doubt, this grant money sees some of the biggest bang for the buck as the kiddos experience the wonder inside these boxes.
Thanks for funding the Big Dig! It was so cool with all the bones and fossils. - Connor
Last year, Annika Saavedra, Paula Krasowski, AmyBeth Fisher, and Kayla Walder shared the boxes containing artifacts and educational materials. The students experienced the Lewis & Clark Expedition, some geology and paleontology in the Burke’s, “Dig In” boxes, and a collection of huge whale bones offering students a glimpse into ocean biology.
Thank you for paying for the Burke Museum. It was a fun experience to learn new things. I learned about rocks, how the Earth changes, woolly mammoths, and much more. I liked the part about how the Earth changed over time and rocks. - Andrea
For less than $1,200, multiple classes experienced hands-on education going well above and beyond the basics. NKSF was all too happy to grant the funding necessary for another visit by the Burkemobile this year, and we can’t wait to see what the kiddos get to experience. We love seeing all of the letters of gratitude from the kiddos, and the photos shared by their teachers as they experience some amazing history. We hope you do too.
